This is part of the Stories of Hope series. If you have a story you would like to share about a time you were in Haiti with Hope for Haiti, please email saintmarchaiti@gmail.com and attach any pictures. Thanks for reading, thanks for writing, and thanks for your prayers.

As you’ll see in this story, prayer can make all the difference.

Going to Fond Baptist

Going to Fond Baptist

I have many memories of Haiti. But the first time we went to Fond Baptist stays in my mind. Art, Pastor Marcel and I had to walk that last little bit of the way. I could see people scrambling around, but no one approached us until we got to the village. They were all waiting for us in their best clothes because “Pastor was coming.” It was great visit.

The highlight was a man going to his cabbage field and digging up a few chicken eggs that he had put there to stay cooler. He gave them to Pastor Marcel. Talk about the widow’s mite. There it was right in front of me. I started to feel physically bad and we headed back to the truck. It was a difficult walk back for me. Prayers were raised up. My next doctor’s appointment revealed I was diabetic.  No doubt the Lord was protecting me during our visit to Fond Baptist. Could have been a lot different outcome.
